Markandeya University held its first graduation ceremony during an open Senate meeting at the Aston Denpasar Hotel & Convention Center on Tuesday (October 27). A total of 192 graduates from two faculties and seven study programs graduated in the first ceremony since the institution’s status changed from the Markandeya Bali Institute of Technology and Education (ITP) to a university.

The event was also attended by the Head of LLDIKTI Region VIII, the Director General of Hindu Community Guidance at the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Regent of Bangli, and the Chairperson of the Bangli Regency DPRD. Also in attendance were the Chairperson of the Kresna Andhi Mandiri Foundation, ABPPTSI Bali and APTISI Bali, leaders of educational and banking institutions in Bangli, and partners from Thailand.

In his speech, the Chancellor of Markandeya University, Dr. I Wayan Numertayasa, S.Pd., M.Pd., reminded the graduates of the meaning of the diploma and the responsibilities that accompany it.

“The diplomas our graduates receive today are more than just pieces of paper. They reflect the struggle and thousands of sweat of their parents that have brought them to this point. Therefore, the knowledge they have gained must be dedicated to society, and the good name of their alma mater must always be upheld,” said the Rector of Markandeya University.

Echoing the Chancellor, the Head of the Higher Education Service Institute (LLDIKTI) Region VIII, Dr. Ir. I Gusti Lanang Bagus Eratodi, ST, MT, IPU., ASEAN.Eng., called the graduates a superior generation needed by society.

“The students graduating today are the spearhead of the golden generation, empowered with superior human resources relevant to society’s needs. We see that the products at Markandeya University are truly contemporary products that are needed and will never be affected by the industrial era 4.0,” said the Head of LLDikti Region 8.

The graduation ceremony also included awards for top graduates and outstanding graduates. The best graduate award was won by I Dewa Ayu Made Wiantari, SE, from the Economic Management Study Program. Meanwhile, the outstanding graduate award was given to Ni Wayan Mia Noviyanti, S.Pd., from the English Language Education Study Program, who won second runner-up in the 2026 International Essay Writing Competition .

The knowledge and values gained during their studies now await to be demonstrated. Graduates are expected to emerge as superior resources who dedicate their knowledge to the community and uphold the reputation of their alma mater.
