UMU Buton also participated in the Indonesian Higher Education Fair 2026 at the Indonesian Embassy in Dili

Buton Muslim University (UMU Buton) participated in the Indonesian Higher Education Fair (IHEF) 2026 held at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Dili, Timor-Leste, on September 8–10, 2026. This participation is part of UMU Buton’s commitment to expanding its international network while introducing various Indonesian higher education opportunities to the people of Timor-Leste.

“UMU Buton’s participation in the Indonesian Higher Education Fair 2026 is an important momentum to introduce UMU Buton to the people of Timor-Leste while opening up opportunities for broader educational collaboration between Indonesia and Timor-Leste,” said UMU Buton Rector, Dr. La Ode Rasmin, M.Pd.

Through this activity, UMU Buton introduced the university profile, study programs, various academic services, scholarship opportunities, as well as opportunities for prospective Timor-Leste students to continue their higher education at UMU Buton.

“We want to be present not only to promote educational programs, but also to build sustainable academic relationships and partnerships. We hope that more young people in Timor-Leste will learn about and take advantage of the educational opportunities at UMU Buton , ” the Rector added.

UMU Buton’s participation in IHEF 2026 also serves as a momentum to strengthen the implementation of cooperation with the Education and Culture Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Dili, particularly in the development of education, academic exchanges, research, community service, and language and cultural development.

“We express our appreciation to the Indonesian Embassy in Dili, especially Prof. Tasrifin Tahara, Education and Culture Attaché, for providing space for Indonesian universities to attend and introduce Indonesian education in Timor-Leste. This is an excellent opportunity for UMU Buton to build international networks and collaborations,” said Dr. La Ode Rasmin.

In this activity, UMU Buton also received support from the Chairman of the Indonesian Education Foundation of the Buton Islands, Drs. H. Ibrahim Marsela, MM, who also attended the series of activities and encouraged UMU Buton to continue expanding its role at the international level.

“We strongly support UMU Buton’s participation in this activity. This is an opportunity to introduce UMU Buton internationally and pave the way for broader collaboration. We hope this participation will result in international students, academic collaboration, and concrete programs between UMU Buton and Timor-Leste,” said Drs. H. Ibrahim Marsela, MM.

Through its participation in the Indonesian Higher Education Fair 2026, UMU Buton affirms its commitment to continue moving towards the internationalization of higher education, expanding access to education, building global networks, and being part of strengthening educational relations and friendship between Indonesia and Timor-Leste.
